Cathedral and cottage shopping in Scotland – what are the next steps?

Saw another house today. I know. I know. I’m so in love with the first house I have eyes for none other – unless it’s a cathedral, or a castle. But we must invest due diligence. Why? Had lunch in this beauty near Melrose Scotland. Awesome whisky. Good food. Wouldn’t it be fun to take a FROUD workshop here? Or a painting course with Alan Lee? Or a writer’s retreat with Neil Gaiman?

This thing right here!? It’s called a sunset! And it’s happening in Scotland. We bought a pizza and went down to the waterfront to socially distance ourselves. We took our masks off to smile for you. And to shove pizza in our mouths. And beer. I’ll never take the sun for granted again.

So we did a magic thing yesterday. We took ourselves into the deep woods, to an ancient Druidic site said to be favored by the faeries. We tied a wish to the clootie tree and asked the faeries to favor our journey to establish Wonderland in the land of my ancestors. I started our art galley DUIRWAIGH as a place of myth and magic online over 20 years ago. The word “DUIRWAIGH” refers to “druis”, meaning magical knowledge. Well we’ve done it! We’ve seen our first house and managed to fall in love. It’s quite delish. Set in a teeny tiny fairy tale village outside of Edinburgh. SWOONAGE. Look in the comments for video. We did a walk through and managed to capture about 80% of the place. (It’ll take me a few hours to edit.)They tell you not to fall in love with the first person you meet. I think it might be too late.

HEY SCOTLAND!! WE GOT OUT!! Three intrepid explorers hit the beach today in search of selkie songs and pirate coves. I knew we were on the right path when we stumbled upon a WOW in the sand. My sentiments exactly. Tomorrow begins the quest for Wonder Hunter Headquarters. So watch this space to join the adventure!

We’re in Scotland. We’re applying for citizenship before Brexit, as Silas is eligible as an EU citizen. It’s staggering to me, to consider all the changes a move would require. It’s a geographical move, a cultural move, a logistical move, an energetic move. So many shifts are required. I’m quickly realizing that life will not be sustainable “business as usual.” Everywhere is different because of Covid and that’s enough to deal with —for us, for you, for the world. When you’re in quarantine there’s not a lot to do. We’ve been inside except for a few trips to the local market. But I’ve taken to photographing a little corner of beach I can see from the back window and the verdant hill behind it. I’m a HUGE sucker for the seduction light can create, and on a good day we can have five or six variations of light play just because of the shifting weather.
